Today is Australia Day.
I don’t care to get caught in the ridiculous nonsense of “Invasion Day”.
I don’t care for that researcher who says that flying the Australian flag on your vehicle is racist.
I don’t care to change the Australian Constitution.
I don’t care to accept the illegal immigrants.
Today is Australia Day.
I’m delighted to see legitimate migrants becoming Australian citizens, today.
I’m delighted that so many of my friends, long-time and new, are originally from lands other than Australia.
One of my groomsmen is an Islander and he is a very proud Australian who has forged a successful and commendable career working for the Department of Families in the Queensland government.
Today is Australia Day.
I’m proud of my country.
I’m proud of our history in being a good global citizen.
I’m proud of people like my grandparents (who saw active duty in World War II) who risk their lives – and sometimes unfortunately sacrifice their lives – for Australia and the peoples of the world.
Today is Australia Day and I’m proud …. and I’m thankful.
